How do I use the free SSL certificate?
Acorn Host offers free SSL certificates that are automatically installed on all accounts. Just put https:// in front of your domain to use it. It will automatically be generated and renewed for all domains and subdomains on your account. No dedicated IP is required. This is not a "self-signed" SSL certificate but a regular domain-verified SSL certificate provided by Comodo through Cpanel's AutoSSL feature. The best part is you no longer have to go through the domain verification process as that is taken care of automatically through Cpanel. You can check your AutoSSL info in Cpanel under "SSL Status".
The only exception to this is if you already have a paid certificate installed. If a paid certificate is installed, even if it expires, the free SSL will not replace it because it may be of a different type. To take advantage of the free SSL if you have previously installed a paid certificate, simply delete that paid certificate in Cpanel and click "Run AutoSSL" under "SSL Status". Contact us if you have any issues.
If you have an SSL certificate that you purchased from us and no longer want to renew it, be sure to cancel it and your dedicated IP within the customer portal. Click on "extend/change plan" on the sidebar.
