What is the difference between parked domains and addon domains?

Cpanel lets you create subdomains (subdomain.yourdomain.com), addon domains, and parked domains.

Addon domains are full domains parked on top of subdomains.

Parked domains are full domains parked on top of your main domain.
http://www.parkeddomain.com >>>
http://www.maindomain.com

This means addon domains can display an entirely different website (that resides in a folder named "addondomain" in your public_html directory), whereas parked domain display the same thing as your main domain.
